INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMACY HALL OF FAME (IDHOF)
FALL 2014 UPDATE

by Larry Peery

Apology: Sorry for the slight delay but I’ve been working on this issue of TDP, and a major story for DW on Henry Kissinger and Allan B. Calhamer at Harvard, due out in December.

Status Report: If you haven’t, be sure to read the IDHOF feature article in DW #127, Fall 2014 issue.

Status Update: The Nominations Committee is about to begin its work and, hopefully, will be done within 3 weeks.

Nominations Committee aka The 18:

At the moment these are the people who have signed on: Walt Buchanan, Edi Birsan, David Hood, Don Del Grande, Doug Beyerlein, Jim Burgess, Jim Yerkey, Jim O’Kelly, Conrad Woodring, Toby Harris, Laurent Joly, Jean Louis Delattre, Guiseppe Salerno, Davide Cleopadre, Chris Brand, Dorian Love, Sean Colman and myself. There are a couple of more possible members pending, but we’re still looking for a few more. Volunteers Needed: We need help for the permanent IDHOF Committee being formed and a couple of technical people who are computer and internet savy. I’m especially looking for someone to set up and maintain an internet web site (e.g. like on Facebook) and a IDHOF data base.

Schedule:

23 NOV 2014:Nominations & Seconds Due.
1 DEC 2014:Voting Begins.
14 DEC 2014:Voting Ends.
22 DEC 2014Results Announced.

Qualifications for Nominees:

  1. Find the best nominees representing:
    1. All of Diplomacy’s diverse hobbies;
    2. All generations of members;
    3. Geographical diversity.
  2. Elect the best of the best, but don’t forget the rest.

Nomination Procedures: A modified version of the procedures in the DW IDHOF feature will be used. Details will be sent to The 18.

The Use of Seconds: Committee members may nominate or second a nomination by another person and, in fact, are encouraged to do so.

Idea of a Facebook page for Committee Use? Under discussion.

Use Conrad Woodring as back-up mail drop. Under discussion.
