I've noticed at least two links to this page which could result in people who don't know anything about play-by-E-mail diplomacy getting here. If you are are interested in Diplomacy but don't know anything about play-by-E-mail diplomacy, you probably should check out the rec.games.diplomacy FAQ. Instructions for retrieving the FAQ can be found in the notes at the end of this file.
Feedback is welcome - send comments, errors, additions or omissions to Eric Goodman (eric@diplom.org).
The diplomacy subject index is intended to be used as a reference by anyone involved with the PBEM diplomacy hobby, from novices to experts alike. This index will hopefully be able to point anyone with a question to the correct information source where the answer can be found.
The text version of the index is a useful reference. However, if you have access to the World-Wide-Web, the best way to use the index is to access the HTML version (the URL is given at the top of this file.) The HTML version of the index has links to most of the judge data files and to nearly every section in the FAQ. This saves you the time of looking things up yourself, so getting to the desired information should be pretty easy. When an index entry refers to a different part of the index, a link will let you jump right to it without having to search for it. Also, to make searching easier, at the top of the HTML version of the index is a set of links that will send you to a given letter in the alphabetical index.
If you aren't using the HTML version if the index, you can get the latest copy of the FAQ by anonymous ftp at ftp.rmii.com in /pub2/starkey/diplomacy/rec.games.diplomacy.FAQ.1 and rec.games.diplomacy.FAQ.2. The latest version of the FAQ can also be retrived by Email. Mail starkey@rmii.com with "FAQ request" in the subject and the FAQ will be mailed to you. You can get copies of the judge information files by sending a message to your local judge with "get FILENAME" in the body.
